The RNA is co-sponsoring a neighborhood tree planting event with Friends of Trees, a non-profit tree planting organization, on March 6, 2004.
Trees will be available for residents to purchase at substantially reduced prices, well below wholesale, from about $20-$50 per tree depending on the variety. Discount prices are available to Rosemere residents due, in part, to a grant submitted on behalf of the neighborhood. This program was so well received that Friends of Trees extended the deadline for ordering trees until February 13, 2004. Please fill out the FORM to volunteer! Sorry, the deadline for ordering trees has now passed.
For those who placed orders for trees, the Urban Forester will visit your home and locate good planting spots, and will also perform a safety check to make sure there are no underground utilities in the way. The Urban Forester will also offer you a list of trees that will be appropriate for your planting location. You may choose whichever tree you prefer from the Urban Forester’s approved list. You may visit the Friends of Trees website to review photos of the many varieties of available trees at www.friendsoftrees.org.
Friends of Trees will also have a variety of fruit trees available, free of charge, on April 3, 2004. You must go the Friends of Trees nursery in person to get your free fruit trees. Please contact Friends of Trees directly for more information on fruit trees. Check back for more information on this special event!
