In light of security measures in the Pacific Northwest, The Rosemere Neighborhood Association is setting another precedent. We are asking everyone in Rosemere to stay home, stay out on your porch or in your front yard, and turn on your porch light for National Night Out.
ALSO check your fire alarms and put in new batteries. Check your windows for security locks that are easy to open from the inside but not from the outside. Check doors and gates to be sure they are all closing and locking properly. Follow around your perimeter fence for gaps or weak spots. Trim shrubs back away from your home’s windows.
Go through an emergency checklist to be sure you and your family are ready in case of any kind of emergency. Be sure you have a 3-day water supply; a 3-day supply of pet food & supplies; flashlights, extra flashlights, and more flashlights.
Here is the recommended checklist from the US Department of Homeland Security’s “Ready.Gov” website.
For more information and a complete overview on the US Department of Homeland Security’s recommendations for emergency preparedness go to Ready.Gov at http://www.ready.gov/overview.html
AND The Rosemere Neighborhood Association hopes that instead of looking across the street at your neighbor, you will walk across the street and introduce yourself. Take time to reflect on all our troops serving our country, whether in the military or our law enforcement and firefighting forces here at home, dispatchers, emergency medical services, the coast guard – everyone who is serving our country and our communities to ensure our safety here and abroad.
Enjoy National Night Out. Let world peace begin now.
